The humble beginning of the nursing service and nursing education way back 1869, is the legacy of our parent institutions The Christian mission hospital and the CSI School of nursing. The seed grown up as a banyan tree and sheltered thousands and thousands of young budding nurses, and the branches spread across the globe.

  • The CSI School of Nursing was started in 1913 with lower grade of Nursing and Midwifery Courses.
  • In 1934, it started Higher Grade nursing for men.
  • General Nursing and Midwifery course in the year 1951.

The Mission and Vision of the college is that willing youth must be given an opportunity to receive education of commendable quality in Nursing care practice. The college too laid emphasis on molding the young students by inculcating human qualities and serve as cheerful servants of God and Mankind.

We salute our eminent nursing leaders namely Sr.Fint, Betty, Taylor, The European missionary nurses…. who began their good works with diligence. The baton was handed over to Mrs.Susheela Packianathan as the Principal of the CSI School of nursing. The initiation of the principal along with the strenuous efforts of the then Bishop special commissary Rt.Rev Dr.A Christopher Asir and the then bishop chairman Rt.Rev.Dr.D.Pothirajulu, in the year 1993 graduate nursing program was started.

I got the privilege of heading this renowned institution since 2004. We could add on feathers by promoting the institution to postgraduate level in the year 2006 and Doctoral study centre under TN. Dr.MGR Medical University in the year 2008. This year marking the 30th Pearl jubilee year, we are happy to be the pioneering nursing institution. The C.S.I. Jeyaraj Annapackiam College of Nursing, Madurai continues its 30 years of excellence in rendering tremendous transformation in the various spectrums of nursing service, education, administration and Nursing Research.
